Getting an OEM radio and a new coolant reservoir for the Sunbird from a fellow J-body enthusiast (yes, there is more than one of us) for $30.00 shipped. Yay!
Also took it over to my friend’s house tonight. He made me a key for his four-car garage/barn thing and that’s where the car is going to live. Hopefully throughout winter too. I’m not driving it in the salt and snow.

While I personally don’t understand why you like this car so much, I can at least appreciate your enthusiasm for it. Even the generally unloved cars need love, I guess.

Did you wax it? Those old reds oxidize, and yours looks pretty shiny.

Yep. Zymol cleaner wax is the shit. And this car has spent its entire life in a garage.
There are quite a few dents, dings, and scratches but it’s a good “ten-footer.”

I see it as a being like a little ugly mutt dog. Not likely to be adopted by anyone but a weirdo like me.

J-Body people be like

Very true. Although, to be honest, I wasn’t officially a J-body person until I got my Sunbird. I was and still am an old school GM FWD enthusiast , but my speciality has now become J-bodies since I own one.
I wanted an L-body (a Beretta or a Corsica) but they’re all but impossible to find.

Nice. I respect your enthusiasm for a generally unloved car that is getting uncommon.
I think I mentioned it, I took my driver’s test in a Sunbird 25 years ago now (!). It was the smallest car I had access to, owned by a family friend. It was a sedan, but had those same wheels.

But what cassettes do you keep in the glovebox?

That’s a pretty good analogy.

My grandma has some classic country ones and my father-in-law is letting me borrow some Van Halen, AC/DC, and Guns ‘n Roses ones as well.

The same reason I’m so into Jukes. A small group of people need to keep a niche alive. It’s not like is car with a large after market (STI, Civic, etc) loses a few enthusiasts they will still be around. A car with a little fan base loses the enthusiasts they are gone.

Get a cassette adapter for your phone or iPod, preferably a Phillips adapter . I rock one in the Miata and it’s worth every one of the ten dollars, especially when you’re out in the middle of nowhere with no radio signals.

I like it because it’s like a time capsule. It’s been SO long since I last saw one o
f those
in such good shape.

There are W-body people here too, though I’ll admit I was technically “ unaware of its existence” before I had one. But now I like them.

Yet not a single fucking one of them has the brains to own one of these:
(And if somebody finds one with a 5 speed , do not think for one instant I am above murdering for it.)

What is that?

The ONLY J-body worth owning.
1987 Buick SkyHawk T-Type. 2.0L LT3 turbocharged mill producing 165HP and around 190ft/lbs, and the only one you could get with that mill and a manual transmission.

That car looks so awesome.
Happy to see I’m not the only one giving unloved 90s vehicles love!

If you ever come across a Quad4 engine (I think these had them in some trims, I know some L-bodies did, let me know. I need one. For reasons.

Good point, I do love seeing 90s cars that are in mint condition. Driving back to Savannah after I evacuated for hurricane Irma, I saw a bunch, all being driven by older people. Probably bought it brand new, took care of it, and parked it in their garage.
One of my friends and I send each other pictures when we see extremely clean 90s cars.
